Word Above All Words

I’ve noticed over the years that when I feel closest to the Lord is when I’m diving into His Word on a daily basis. Not just Sundays. Not just at Bible study. Not when other people are around to witness it. But home, alone, just me and Him, every day.
The Word of God is our food, our drink, our way of life. It is everything. And it is impossible as believers to continue a relationship with Him without His Word. Devotionals are great, books are amazing, scripture on Twitter and Instagram is empowering, but we need the actual thing. The Word. The Bible. The Scripture.Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Not just by Jesus Calling, nor just by Francis Chan or Beth Moore, not by this blog, nor any other well regarded Bible study for you have one teacher (Matthew 23:8), and that is Christ.
Put yourself in the Word every day. Consider it more than just a discipline. You cannot deeply and intricately know God unless He is a part of your daily life. I encourage you to read Christian authors and attend Bible studies and have daily devotionals, but make the Bible your first priority over others. Sanctify them by the truth: your word is truth (John 17:17).
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched — this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 1 John 1:1
If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Man Shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.Matthew 4:4
