I was born and raised in Orange County, California and then attended the University of Arizona where I played volleyball. There, I met my husband Nick, and we were married in April, 2014. We’ve been on a wild journey in this NFL life, but we are blessed to be in the situation we are in. We’ve learned it is best to just embrace this crazy lifestyle and enjoy the process that God is constantly crafting. For now, we are parents to Henry the doodle, who thinks he is a human. We might think he is a human too.
Aside from our life together, I have had my trials that have now become “our” trials, but I am certain that they have brought us closer to God and enabled me to share with others what I am learning. Most importantly, not to make my life look perfect, but to open up about how hardship can be a blessing if we take the right perspective.
My life was altered in 2013 when I was diagnosed with an unexpected illness. A year after working at Nike Inc. and living an active lifestyle in Portland, OR, everything changed. I suddenly became ill and had no idea why. I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Eventually, this would lead to an underlying diagnosis of Lyme Disease. For me, this illness has been a journey of faith, hope, and trust in the process that God has set out for me. Through my writing and my blog, I hope to be able to give some perspective on how to view difficult situations and help inspire people to find purpose in what they are going through. Most of all, I hope to lead people closer to the source of my hope and strength, Jesus Christ. You can visit my blog, Healing As We Go, for more details if you’re interested.
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:3-5
